OUR FAMILIES

As part of being your child’s Guardian we will organise homestay placements for students during Exeats, Half-Terms and Easter holidays. We recognise the importance of your child feeling welcome and part of a family when they are abroad, as well has having fun and new experiences away from school. Because of this, we have carefully selected families to care for your child. Every family is met personally by one of our Guardians and we will conduct an Enhanced DBS check with all adult members of the family. We will do our best to ensure that your child stays with the same host family throughout their stay and as a result many of our students have maintained relationships even after they have left.

Here are a few photos of our students enjoying time with their host families…

OUR HOST FAMILY LOCATIONS

ROLE OF A HOST FAMILY

Being a host family can be a very rewarding experience for you and the students staying with you. You are providing them with a home away from home and a place to escape the stresses of school life. We try to match host families and students during their stay so you can build a long lasting relationship that may continue even after they have left school.

Being a host family involves the following:

  • To provide students with appropriate accommodation during exeats, half terms and other holidays as required;
  • To provide students with at least 3 meals a day as well as snacks;
  • To welcome students into your home and include them in your family life;
  • To ensure any prep work is completed and to assist with revision if necessary;
  • To arrange excursions and activities to make the holidays more fun and give students a break from school life;
  • To teach students about British manners and etiquette.

By immersing students into your family life we hope that they will learn about British culture and improve their English language, it is also a great experience for you too.

HOW TO BECOME A HOST FAMILY

Once you have completed the short form below we will send you a full application form for you to complete and return to us. We require information about you and your family so we can best match our students to a host family.

The safety of our students is our paramount consideration. Therefore, all people living in your household over the age of 16 years old will need to be Enhanced DBS checked. By applying to become a host family you agree to undergo this process.

We will send you our Host Family Handbook and organise an inspection of your property prior to any student staying with you.
